Who are we

In 2023, Violet Lin FAN established Tree Children, driven by a profound aspiration to enhance well-being through the harmonious union of individuals and nature. Tree Children curates transformative journeys grounded in the therapeutic embrace of forests. The name comes from a favorite children's book called "Peter and the Tree Children" written by a famous forest scientist, Peter Wohlleben.

More than a mere business endeavor, Tree Children embodies Violet's visionary commitment - to foster a profound connection between humanity and the natural world. Through meticulously crafted kids play boxes, to experiences such as guided forest therapy walks, and enlightening educational workshops, Tree Children aspires to kindle bonds of connection, love, and protection for nature. Simultaneously, it seeks to infuse well-being and nurturance into the lives of all those touched by its initiatives.

About the founder

Violet (Lin) was born in south China and pursued her education in Engineering at Tsinghua University and Columbia University. Over nearly a decade, she delved into the realms of Finance and Tech Start-ups, navigating a dynamic career that spanned continents and cities, including New York, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Malaysia. However, the trajectory of her life underwent a profound shift upon embracing motherhood. This transformative experience sparked a deep-seated interest in education, human development, and the intricate interplay between humanity and nature.

Endlessly inquisitive and committed to continuous learning, Violet's exploration led her to the realms of nature education and forest therapy. Having contributed to the operations of an educational startup and earning certification as an ANFT (Association of Nature and Forest Therapy) guide, she envisioned a new chapter in her life—a vision realized through the creation of Tree Children.

Her Chinese name “Lin” (in Chinese “林”) means “woods” or a short name for “forest” in Chinese. She have always loved this name and now, it resonates even more profoundly as she forges a profound connection with nature through her venture, Tree Children.

Christchurch, New Zealand

Christchurch is where I call home now. And it’s where I started my journey as an educator and as a trained forest therapy guide. I felt nurtured by nature here and in return I’d like to offer my programs to people here.

Waikawa, New Zealand

It was in Waikawa that I first experienced and learned about conservation works and projects in New Zealand. It inspired my idea of launching the Tree Children Fund to raise funds for conservation.

Bishan Village, China

In my recent trip visiting my home country China, I realised there are plenty of forest resources in rural area that are so beautiful but needed protection. I’d like to help conservation there too.
